Our management brings with them extensive entrepreneurial experience and past success in the creation and delivery of the highest quality ethnic programming and media.

With over 100 years of business experience across a number of disciplines including; radio, television, sales and marketing, finance, government and media regulations, technology and operations; our management understands the need to grow and manage a business focused on its audience.

To help guide us through our continued growth, we have assembled an exceptional Board of Advisors with extensive experience and success in the media and technology sectors.




Board Of Advisors


Dr. Michael Stumm - CEO and Co-Founder, OANDA Inc.
Dr. Stumm is the CEO and co-founder of OANDA, Inc. In addition, he is a professor in the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering and the Department of Computer Science at the University of Toronto. Dr. Stumm has over 20 years of experience in computer engineering and science at IBM, O&A, Stanford University, the University of Toronto and the ETH in Zurich, specializing in the area of distributed and parallel systems, Internet and Web technology, and ecommerce. Dr. Stumm has a Bachelor of Science degree in mathematics and a Ph.D. in Computer Science and is the author of over 80 scientific publications. Oanda just recently closed a $100 million round of private equity financing.

Julia L. Johnson - Past Chair of the FCC Diversity Committee
Julia L. Johnson is the current treasurer for the MMTC and from January 2001 to the present, Ms. Johnson has been president of NetCommunications, L.L.C., a strategy consulting firm specializing in the communications, energy, and information technology public policy arenas. Since Feb 2002, Ms. Johnson has also served as a member of the board of directors for MasTech Inc. From 2003 - 2005 Ms. Johnson was Chair of the FCC’s Diversity Committee where she led recommendations to the FCC regarding policies and practices that further enhance the ability of minorities and women to participate in telecommunications and related industries. Prior to founding NetCommunications, Ms. Johnson was vice president of marketing for MILCOM Technologies, Inc., a military technology commercialization company, from March 2000 to August 2001.

Robert Dwyer - Investment Banker
Mr. Dwyer currently serves as advisory and board member for a number of companies including; Morgan Stanley & Co. MasTech Inc., Bimini Capital Management Inc., Bank of New York Ivy Multi Strategy Hedge Fund LLC and the Mellon Optima L\S Strategy Fund. Mr. Dwyer retired from Morgan Stanley Dean Witter in 1999 as executive vice president-national sales director, from 1991 until retirement. Prior to 1991, he served with Dean Witter Reynolds, Inc., as executive vice president of taxable fixed income products and also as senior vice president -associate national sales director. Mr. Dwyer has numerous charitable and civic interests. He currently serves as chairman of the board of trustees for Niagara University and is on the investment committee for the Vincentian Order. Mr. Dwyer also serves as chairman of the Dwyer Family Foundation, which supports a number of health and social programs.

Deborah Lathen - Past Chief of FCC Cable Services Bureau
Deborah Lathen is an accomplished corporate attorney, business leader, domestic and international policy advisor. Lathen has enjoyed a distinguished career in both the private and public sectors. Ms. Lathen was appointed Chief of the FCC’s Cable Services Bureau in May 1998 where she led a 100+ team of lawyers, economists and engineers in helping to craft today’s converged digital and broadband landscape. Ms. Lathen has held legal and senior positions with law firms and Fortune 500 corporations including; The Quaker Oats Company, TRW and Nissan Motor Corporation USA. In May ’98 she was appointed Chief of the FCC’s Cable Services Bureau where she led a 100+ team of lawyers, economists and engineers in helping to craft today’s converged digital and broadband landscape. In February 2007 she was named a director of British Telecom, a FTSE 50 and global telecommunications company where she was a member of the Remunerations and the Committee for Responsible and Sustainable Business committees.

Kendrick Meek - US Congressman
Kendrick Brett Meek (born September 6, 1966) is the former U.S. Representative for Florida's 17th congressional district, serving from 2003 until 2011. He also served in the Florida House of Representatives from 1995 to 1998 and then in the Florida Senate from 1999 to 2002. In 2002, Kendrick was elected representative for the 17th Congressional District of Florida, which includes parts of Miami-Dade and Broward County. He was elected to his fourth term in the U.S. House in 2008.

Dr. Sydney White - Former Director of Operations at NPR
With over 25 years in the media for both private and public sector. Dr. White was recently Director of Operations at the National Public Radio’s (NPR’s) overseeing more than 100 radio stations across North America.

Hon. David Tsubouchi - Former Provincial Minister
Mr. Tsubouchi is a leading counsel at Fraser Milner Casgrain LLP. As a member of the Board of Governors for York University, Mr. Tsubouchi serves as the Chair of the Pension Fund Board of Trustees and the Audit Committee and the Sub-Committee on Investment Performance. Mr. Tsubouchi has a 15-year history in public service, first as a councillor in Markham, Ontario and thereafter as the Markham member of provincial parliament between 1995 and 2003. He held the positions of Minister of Community and Social Services, Minister of Consumer and Commercial Relations, Solicitor General, Minister of Culture and Chair of the Management Board of Cabinet. Mr. Tsubouchi is a York alumnus, receiving both a BA and an LLB from York. Active in the community, Mr. Tsubouchi has been recognized for his contributions and has been awarded numerous honours including an LLD from Assumption University in Windsor, the Queen’s Golden Jubilee Medal, the Bruce Bryden Award for leadership from York University and has been made an honorary aboriginal chief of police.

Doug Kneebone - Senior Vice President and General Counsel, SOMA Networks
Mr. Kneebone is responsible for all legal matters at SOMA Networks, Silicon Valley Wireless Technology Company. With over 21 years in private legal practice before joining SOMA, Doug has worked with and advised numerous technology companies, venture capital firms and financial institutions. As a senior partner with Gowling Lafleur Henderson LLP, one of Canada's largest law firms, Mr. Kneebone has provided advice and counsel in connection with mergers and acquisitions, corporate finance, insolvency and corporate restructuring, both in Canada and the United States. Doug holds a Bachelor's degree from McMaster University and an LLB from the University of Toronto Law School.
